Copenhagen moist snuff |
|
Weyman invented his Copenhagen moist snuff out of a need for an easier way for his customers to enjoy tobacco while working on the farms. Back then, nasal snuff was the rage with the American aristocracy and pipe smoking was the way the blue collar farmers enjoyed it. Weyman realized that farmers couldn’t really smoke their pipes while they worked on their farms and most couldn’t afford nasal snuff. So, he ground the tobacco he was selling for pipes, added a bit of water and invented a product that would survive, with virtually no change, to the present day. But, the product was still promoted as “moist snuff”, not Dip so, where did this name come from? again, we look at Dry snuff for the answer! |
